Janome Sewing Machine

The Milestones Of Janome Sewing Machines

Janome is one the world’s most trusted and well known-brands of sewing machines, having a number of company locations around the globe. Janome sewing machines are well known for their quality, reasonable cost prices and reliable after sales service, which have kept Janome users loyal for years.

The brand name Janome was established as an official trademark in 1935. The word Janome means “eye of the snake” in Japanese. At the time of establishment, the round bobbin system was the most advanced technology at the time, which replaced the traditional long shuttle type system. The new round bobbin looked like a snake’s eye, and so the name Janome was born. This company name was changed to Janome Sewing Machine Co., in 1954.

Over time, Janome sewing machines have become more and more sophisticated, with many of their models being the first of their type at the time, paving the way for an ever-advancing range of sewing machine technology, quality and style, which is still ever-increasing today.

Janome’s Advancements Through Time

Janome have come a long way since their trademark establishment in 1935. In 1971, Janome released Model 801, a machine which was a fully automatic ZZ sewing machine that came with a number of unique functions. The Model 801 was released as the 50th anniversary model for Janome, which only improved from here.

1979 was the next milestone for Janome sewing machines, with the introduction of the Memory 7. The Memory 7 became the first programmable, computerized sewing machine to hit the market at it’s time, which began a trend in the use of computerized technology to improve sewing technology.

In 1990, the Memory Craft 8000 was introduced by Janome onto the market, and was the first home-use computer sewing machine with embroidery functions to be released in the world. This advancement in Janome technology made all sewing machine users’ dreams come true by the introduction of this machine, which opened up a whole new sewing machine market in hobby use.

By the year 2000, Janome had caught on to the use of the PC and the USB cable connection, a pioneer in the sewing machine market. They introduced the Memory Craft 10000, a sewing machine that could be connected to a PC via a USB cable, which created yet another jump and another realm of possibilities for users.

Janome’s advancements using the PC were again brought forward in 2005, when two versatile Janome sewing machines were released onto the market - the MC11000 and the MC6600P. Both of these machines were produced with a wider arm space, making it easier and more versatile for users. The MC 11000 was the first embroidery machine to be equipped with an industrial-grade rolling linear motion guide and the adjustable I-Height LCD screen, and the MC6600P professional-grade computerized sewing machine was the first sewing machine to incorporate the Acufeed Layered Fabric Feeding System at that time.

Today, the advancements Janome’s sewing machines only continue to adapt, grow, and improve against the very best technology available on the market. To find out more on what’s new from Janome, visit your local Janome dealer or look up their website on www.janome.com.
